Waveney Valley Community First Responders
The Weybread Crown Inn is working to support the
Waveney Valley Community First Responder group.
A Community First Response scheme is made up of groups of volunteers who, within the community in which they live or work, have been trained to attend emergency calls received by the NHS ambulance service, providing first aid until an emergency ambulance arrives.
Initially the group will borrow a First Aid and AED response kit from the East of England Ambulance Service however they are expected to raise money to purchase there own group equipment.
An average cost for an initial kit is £2500 and is broken down as follows:-
AED £1500
Kit bag 1 for first aid supplies £130
Kit bag 2 for oxygen and suction £75
Hi Visibility jackets per person £15
Pulse Oximeter £400
Visor Signs £12.50
Pocket rescue masks per person £6.00
Airways £5.00
There are other helpful medical items which can be added once the scheme is up and running and has sufficient funds in place. The Ambulance service takes responsibility for restocking the kit once purchased by the group. (AED pads are one use only and cost £30.)
The group welcome any help offered whether it is financial or otherwise. There are currently no responder volunteers in Weybread and training is available, the group are also looking for fundraisers, flyer distributors, promotion agents as well as more responder volunteers in surounding villages. Please feel free to contact them for any further information and help us to support this valuable service.
